When someone approaches me at work and asks if I want to do something crazy, say, rappel down Illini Tower, and write about it, it's my policy to say yes. I figure, I can worry about it later, and if it's wild enough to worry, it will probably make quite a story.
I didn't worry much about this assignment, even though my mom's first question was, “Is it safe?” and a coworker advised me not to do it.
Sunday morning, though, I woke up feeling jittery, like I'd be competing in an important athletic event or had enjoyed a few pots of coffee.
But the whole experience was a breeze - and by the time I was done with the 17 stories of Illini Tower, I felt like I could do anything. I'm writing a story for tomorrow's paper, so keep an eye out for it.
Also, as soon as I have access to some photos, I'll be sure to add them here.
