A major weather pattern change for the Midwest will take place during the next few days.
Locally , occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms will end from west to east by Friday evening, followed by abundant sunshine and much warmer, mid-Summerlike weather for the weekend, but more so for next week. Afternoon temperatures by Sunday will reach the lower 80s, then soar to near-record levels into the mid-80s to around 90-degrees much of next week!
The 6- to 10-day outlook for May 26-30 calls for much warmer-than-normal weather continuing across the Plains, Great Lakes, Midwest, Mid-South, and Northeast. Farther west, a sustained period of cool, stormy weather will persist over the Northwest and by early next week will spread as far east as the northern Plains and the upper Midwest.
