An early Summer-like, yet somewhat unsettled weather pattern will continue for east-central Illinois into the beginning of next week.
Expect day-to-day mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms on a widely scattered basis, although some development is possible earlier in the day, as well.
A more concentrated threat for showers and thunderstorms will occur Sunday as an upper air disturbance interacts with a weak, southward drifting cold front.
Locally heavy rainfall in excess of an inch will be possible. In addition, there is a slight risk of severe storms, with the primary severe weather threats being large hail and strong winds.
High temperatures Sunday will range from the mid-80s to lower 90s over many areas, with heat index values nearing 95 to 100 degrees.
