Hot weather will persist on the central and southern Plains into Friday, but relief will arrive during the weekend as heat shifts into the East and West.
Elsewhere, frequent showers and thunderstorms will continue through week’s end from the northern Plains into the Northeast, while scattered showers will dot the Gulf Coast region and the Four Corners States.
A low-pressure system near Hispaniola may become a tropical storm (Bonnie) in the next day or two, and could reach southern Florida as early as Friday and the eastern Gulf of Mexico during the weekend.
The 6- to 10-day outlook calls for near- to above-normal temperatures nationwide. Hot weather will be most likely from the northern Delta to the lower Ohio Valley.
