Potentially dangerous heat is expected to return to central Illinois next week.
A return to hot and very muggy conditions [2] can be expected by Monday across the Midwest.
High pressure currently over the middle Mississippi valley will drift eastward over the next few days allowing muggy southerly winds to increase humidity levels.
By Monday, high temperatures [3] should be well into the 90s with heat index values reaching over 100 degrees across most of central and Illinois. These conditions are expected to linger through Thursday. At this time, it appears that Tuesday may be the most oppressive day with highs in the 95 to 100 degree range and heat index values approaching 113 degrees in some locations.
Prepare yourself for the hot weather well in advance.
