On the Plains, by September 5, wheat planting had advanced to 12% complete in South Dakota, along with 9% in Nebraska, 5% in Colorado, and 3% in Texas.
In the South, fieldwork delays persist in portions of the western Gulf Coast region in the wake of tropical downpours. Meanwhile, warm, dry weather continues to promote summer crop maturation and harvesting from the lower Mississippi Valley, eastward.
In the West, in Washington, 18% of the acreage intended for winter wheat had been planted by September 5.
