Cooler conditions continued over much of the state last week. With small amounts of precipitation across the state, many farmers were able to take full advantage of the favorable weather. Many producers are either harvesting or preparing for harvest. Other farming activities include fall tillage and planting winter wheat.
The corn crop has now reached 79 percent mature and harvest picked up steadily last week with 18 percent of the crop now harvested compared to 7 percent last week.
Soybeans turning yellow reached 73 percent with 42 percent shedding leaves.
The sorghum harvest has also increased.
Topsoil moisture was rated 10 percent very short, 23 percent short, 60 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus.
Finally, the continuous U. S. had its fourth-warmest summer on record.
