An article in Forbes magazine [2] has drawn White House ire.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs called the article by Dinesh D'Souza speculating about what motivates President Obama's policy choices "a new low." Essentially, D'Souza contends that Obama has embraced the anti-colonial attitudes of the father who abandoned him and that they drive many of the decisions he makes.
It specifically attempts to explain Obama's thinly disguised hostility for Great Britain. Remember when Obama summarily sent the bust of Winston Churchill, a gift from the British government, back from whence it came.
Who knows? It could be a lot of baloney. It is, after all, an attempt to read the president's mind. But D'Souza's article is interesting, and it sure made the Big O & Co. angry.
Here's the story [3]on the White House response from The Washington Post.
"Whence" means "from what source?" Thus, "from whence" means "from from what source."
