A “cut-off” weather system over the Northeast and a feed of tropical moisture—including the remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole—will maintain wet conditions across New England.
Meanwhile, mostly dry weather will cover the remainder of the U.S. into early next week.
Across the western half of the nation, late-season warmth will accompany the dry weather. In contrast, a surge of cool air during the weekend and early next week will result in scattered frost across the Midwest and Northeast.
The 6- to 10-day outlook calls for near- to above-normal temperatures nationwide, except for cooler-than-normal weather across the lower Southeast. Meanwhile, near- to below-normal precipitation in the majority of the U.S. will contrast with wetter-than-normal conditions across parts of the West and parts of Florida.
