If you haven't figured it out, I love home decorating – especially with things I can make myself.
However, I've been sort of stumped when it comes to decorating for fall. I have some pumpkins and gourdy-squashy things in my garden I'll eventually get moved to my front porch.
But other than those, I don't have many ideas. I've been scouring craft and home decor websites, hoping to avoid things like those leafy garlands that smack you over the head with, “It's fall!” (No offense to those of you who like the leafy garlands. They're just not for me.)
Here are some of the things I've found that I'd like to try or that don't look too over-the-top:
- a burlap wreath [3], accented with ribbon in more of a fall color.
- different-colored pumpkins stacked up like a snowman [4]. Someone in my neighborhood has already done this, and it looks really nice.
- this square wreath made from the pages of books [5]. However, I could do without the Halloween decoration in the middle. Plus, it looks like a lot of work.
- this acorn wreath [6]. I wanted to make one, but I started looking for acorns after the local supply had already been decimated by squirrels. Maybe next year.
How about you? Do you like the leafy garlands? What's your favorite way to decorate for fall?
