ST. JOSEPH – St. Joseph and Westville each improved to 2-0 at the Leader Classic in advance of their Friday night matchup.
The four-time defending champion Spartans beat Clinton 49-34 on Wednesday as Mike Bialeschki had 15 points. Tad Worley and Zach Becker each added 10 for the Spartans, who took control with a 15-4 second-quarter run.
Josh Barr paced Clinton with 22 points.
Westville used a 24-12 fourth-quarter burst to beat Armstrong-Potomac 55-46. Dustin Billings scored 26 points, Chris Hathaway had 12 and Derek Elliott 10 for the Tigers, who made 24 of 26 free throw attempts.
Zack Franzen paced the Trojans, who led 25-21 at halftime, with 17 points.
