At Fairbury. State-ranked Mahomet-Seymour had five of the top 11 runners and placed second in the Corn Belt Conference boys' meet. Jonathan Schaap (fourth), Lucas Prather (seventh) and John Butcher (eighth) were team leaders. In the girls' meet, seniors Rachel Rodriguez (seventh) and Nikki Lewis (10th) were Mahomet-Seymour's top placers in the Corn Belt meet. The Bulldogs placed third. Normal U-High won the meet.
Normal West 3, Centennial 2. The visiting Chargers couldn't complete a comeback from a 3-0 hole, getting goals from Ryan Gregg and Brent Loth.
At Danville. Kristin Verkler broke the Danville school record in the 200 freestyle (2 minutes, 2.03 seconds) and won the 100 butterfly.
At Uni High. Centennial's AUDREY RODAWIG won the 100 fly, 100 back and 200 free.
At Lincoln-Way Central tourney. Led by all-tournament choice KELLY WACHTEL, Centennial won the Silver Division and placed fifth overall. The Chargers, who went 2-1 in pool play, beat Plainfield Central 25-17, 26-24 in the semifinals and Homewood-Flossmoor 25-13, 26-24 in the championship.
At Beecher. Schlarman's Laura Gross and LeRoy's Ashlynn Cowles were all-tournament. Gross had 36 assists and 26 kills as the Hilltoppers placed fourth.
Vermilion County tournament. At Bismarck, No. 3 Oakwood beat No. 2 Milford 27-25, 25-18 to earn a date with No. 1 Bismarck-Henning in Monday's title match.
