TUSCOLA — The Douglas County sheriff's office is looking for information on who might have broken into two homes in a rural area of the county Thursday afternoon.
Sheriff Charlie McGrew said some time between 1:20 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., the houses, about 2 miles apart on county roads south of Camargo, were forcibly entered, and an undisclosed amount of jewelry and cash were taken.
"We haven't had any of these daytime burglaries for a while," said McGrew.
He urged citizens to check the security of their homes and report suspicious vehicles or activity to the sheriff's office right away at 217-253-2913.
Anyone with information on the burglaries is urged to call Douglas County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-280-8316. Callers may remain anonymous, and may be eligible for a cash reward.
