CHAMPAIGN — Champaign County sheriff's investigators are looking into a robbery at a fast food restaurant west of Champaign Monday night.
Sgt. Dan Coile said about 10 p.m., a man walked into the Subway at 4202 W. Springfield Ave., after having been in the Super Pantry next door.
He ordered a sandwich from the 43-year-old female clerk then opened up a four-inch folding knife and jumped over the counter. The woman said the robber grabbed her on the right side, held the knife to her abdomen and ordered her to open the register, which she did.
She also got money from a cash box and put it all in a plastic Subway bag. The man left on foot.
He was described as a black male, 27 to 30 years old, about 130 pounds. He was wearing all black: hat, gloves, coat with hood up, pants and shoes.
