URBANA — An Urbana man who allegedly groped a woman at the Urbana Free Library two weeks ago has been charged with felony criminal sexual abuse.
Urbana police Lt. Bryant Seraphin said Tyler Knipfer, 21, who listed an address in the 900 block of East Water Street, was arrested about 4:45 p.m. Thursday when his alleged victim saw him back at the library at 210 W. Green St., U.
Seraphin said on the afternoon of Dec. 22, a 19-year-old Champaign woman said she was in the library working on a computer when a man she did not know, but whom she recognized from previous visits there, sat next to her.
He began making small talk then allegedly reached out and groped her breast and groin area, Seraphin said.
The woman reported the incident to police that day but they could not locate the man. They obtained surveillance video and confirmed the woman's story and tried unsuccessfully to identify the man.
When the woman returned to the library Thursday, she saw the man there and called police. They reviewed the video from Dec. 22, then arrested Knipfer, Seraphin said.
He was charged Friday with two counts of felony criminal sexual abuse.
