MONTICELLO — A DeLand couple are in the Piatt county jail following their arrests Thursday for possession of several pounds of cannabis, apparently intended for sale.
Piatt County Chief Deputy Mark Huckstep said Kenneth Stukins, 36, and his wife, Ginger Stukins, 33, were arrested Thursday night after a search of their home in the 500 block of North East Street turned up more than seven pounds of cannabis.
Huckstep said members of the Piatt and Champaign county sheriff's offices teamed up with the FBI Eastern Illinois Safe Streets Task Force to serve a search warrant at the home.
Huckstep said the Stukinses were not home when police searched the house but police located them, brought them back and arrested them.
Piatt County Circuit Judge John Shonkwiler set bond for Kenneth Stukins at $750,000 and for Ginger Stukins at $50,000.
State's Attorney Dana Rhoades said she's waiting for reports from all the police agencies involved in the investigation before formally filing charges.
