At Urbana. Centennial captured three individual titles and placed six wrestlers in championship bouts en route to second place in the 14-team Urbana Invitational.
Darren Wynn (126 pounds), James Romans (145) and Archie Williams (182) won their weight classes to lead the Chargers to a 211-point total. Glenbard East claimed the team crown with 284.5 points.
Fifth-place St. Joseph-Ogden crowned two champions: Austin Upton (160) and Kenny Lindsey (195).
Cameron Mammen of the host Tigers won the 170 division, pinning his title-round opponent in 26 seconds.
Mammen, Williams and Romans were repeat Urbana Invitational champions.
At Mahomet. Austin Armetta of Mahomet-Seymour and Nate Volk of Champaign Central earned titles in the Marty Williams Invitational.
Armetta clinched his 160-pound crown with a 10-2 major decision against Lucas Rusk of Rock Island to improve his season record to 20-0.
The Bulldogs senior is ranked second in the state in Class 2A by Illinoismatmen.com. Rusk is No. 12.
At 152, Volk prevailed 4-1 in his title match against Yorkville's Clayton Bass to clinch his second straight Williams Invitational crown.
Bass is ranked fifth and Volk 11th. Volk (25-2) also defeated No. 9 Alex Alvis of Bloomington in the semifinals 2-1.
"Super, super impressed," Central coach Dan Warner said of Volk's 4-0 tournament performance. "He wrestled some of the top kids in the state today.
"We had a plan, and he stuck to it and he wrestled tough. He's a senior, and he knows what's expected."
Derek Grant of M-S finished third at 138, while two other area wrestlers placed fourth — Tyler Middleton of M-S at 152 and Toby Rivera of Central at 182.
The host Bulldogs were ninth in the 19-team field, and the Maroons were 12th.
At Cumberland. Zach Martin (132) and freshman Jarod Noel (152/160) each had three pins for Bismarck-Henning, which went 3-1 at the Cumberland Duals. The Blue Devils' loss came to Argenta-Oreana, which received pins from Spencer Hollis (145) and Deven McBride (170) in the 41-28 win.
At Normal. Paytton Garrett of Danville finished second at 106 in Normal University High's George Girardi Invitational. Rantoul's Taylor Duitsman placed third in the same class.
In boys' basketball
Springfield Southeast 72, Centennial 57. The visiting Chargers fell behind 23-8 after one quarter and couldn't recover in a nonconference loss. Taylen Alexander led Centennial with 17 points, while Devin Carter contributed 14 points and a game-high-tying eight rebounds. Michael Finke added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Chargers, who committed 22 turnovers.
Naperville North 54, Danville 52. The Vikings built a 31-25 halftime lead but were unable to stave off the host school in the Naperville North Shootout. Dennis Hightower and Donte Ingram shared the scoring lead for Danville with 14 points apiece.
Ridgeview 66, GCMS 47. Bryce Powell scored 18 points and Dana Bose added 16 for the host Mustangs, who shot 54 percent in a McLean County tournament win. Gabe Kerber led the Falcons with 11 points.
LeRoy 56, Heyworth 54. LeRoy outscored the Hornets 15-6 in the fourth quarter to force overtime, then pulled out a McLean County tournament win in the extra session at Colfax. Nick Aupperle poured in 30 points for the Panthers.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw 38, Fisher 37. The Bunnies were unable to hold on to a 31-24 lead through three quarters and lost in the McLean County tournament at Colfax. Parker Perrero led Fisher with 13 points.
Tremont 80, Blue Ridge 61. The Knights fell behind 41-26 at halftime and couldn't recover in a loss at the McLean County tournament at Colfax. Travys Nichols paced a balanced Blue Ridge attack with 14 points.
Hutsonville 60, Shiloh 29. Cole Bogle scored 10 points and Kaleb Hood contributed five rebounds and four assists for the Raiders in a home loss.
In girls' basketball
Centennial 54, Rock Island Alleman 40. Katelynn Martinez scored 13 of her game-high 21 points in the first half to lead the Chargers to a win at the Galesburg MLK tournament.
Galesburg 71, Centennial 70. The Chargers took a four-point lead into the fourth quarter but couldn't hold off the tournament hosts. Chelsea Cross led Centennial with 22 points, all in the first three periods. Stacia Simmons added 17 points.
Champaign Central 61, Bloomington 40. Cheyenne Hedrington's double-double (13 points, 12 rebounds) propelled the host Maroons to a Big 12 victory. Kewanee Garrett had 10 assists for Central.
St. Thomas More 59, Iroquois West 34. The Sabers improved to 6-0 in the Sangamon Valley Conference behind Lexi Wallen's game-high 20 points. Jade Brinkoetter added 10 points for STM, which bolted to a 19-5 first-quarter lead. Taylor Cultra and Jen Cox combined for 23 points for the Raiders, who committed 35 turnovers.
Danville 44, Mattoon 42. J'Lynn Ayers scored the winning basket at the buzzer on an assist by Lynette Buggs to lift the Vikings to a home victory. Breanna Keys led a balanced Danville attack with 13 points.
PBL 63, Tri-Point 44. Cheyenne Weber had 16 points, five steals and four assists for the Panthers in a home victory.
Chillicothe Calvary Baptist 24, Danville First Baptist 22. Jessica Greer scored 12 points and Rachel Wells added 10 for the Knights, who finished second in the Southside tournament. Greer was selected to the all-tournament team.
St. Anne 36, CPCI 24. Alexis Knake sank 11 free throws and scored a game-high 13 points for the host Timberwolves. Kaitlyn Redeker contributed 11 rebounds in the loss.
Fisher 41, Deer Creek-Mackinaw 23. Jacy Cochran (12 points) and Caitlin Cole (10 points) each had double-doubles for the Bunnies, who improved to 6-3 with a McLean County tournament win at Colfax. Cochran also had seven steals.
GCMS 60, Tri-Valley 48. Angel Gaesser scored 14 points to lead a balanced attack that carried the Falcons to a come-from-behind victory in the McLean County tournament at Colfax. GCMS trailed 18-9 after one quarter.
South Piatt 56, Okaw Valley 52. Alex Miller scored 23 points for the Wildcats, who rallied from a 9-6 first-quarter deficit to win at the Little Okaw Valley Conference tournament at Lovington.
Arthur-Lovington 69, Tri-County 46. A-L outscored the Titans 43-14 in the second half to pull away to a win at the Little Okaw Valley Conference tournament at Lovington. Ashley Tabb led A-L with 25 points, and Sherelle Coller contributed 17.
Cerro Gordo 60, Martinsville 25. The Broncos built a 13-2 first-quarter lead en route to a win at the LOVC tournament at Lovington. Shelby Blacker sank five threes and scored a game-high 19 points for CG. Arionna Gant added 17 points.
Villa Grove 47, Heritage 45. Kayla Dowler scored all of her eight points in the fourth quarter to help the Blue Devils pull out a win at the LOVC tournament at Lovington. Alix Ezell led VG with 15 points, while Katie Lannon and Bailey Griffin combined for 23 points for Heritage.
