CHAMPAIGN — A Champaign woman was injured Saturday afternoon when the car she was riding in was hit in an intersection.
Champaign police Sgt. Matt Henson said the accident happened about 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Mattis and Kirby avenues.
Christopher Dunlap, 18, of the 1700 block of West Union Street, Champaign, was driving south on Mattis when he failed to see a northbound vehicle and turned in front of it to go east on Mattis.
The driver of the northbound car was Cassandra Kerwin, 27, of the 200 block of West William Street, Champaign.
Henson said a passenger in Dunlap's car, Bianca Guerra, 18, of the 600 block of West Church Street, was taken to Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana for her injuries.
Dunlap was given a ticket for failure to yield turning left.
