URBANA — A homeless man on probation for sexually molesting a child three years ago has been charged with additional sex-related crimes that allegedly happened during the same time frame.
Ryan Hollingsworth, 22, who previously lived in Urbana, was charged Wednesday with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child alleging that sometime in April or May 2009, he molested two young girls under the ages of 13 who were the children of a woman he knew.
Champaign County sheriff's investigator Tony Shaw said he arrested Hollingsworth Tuesday at the courthouse when Hollingsworth showed up to meet with his probation officer. Hollingsworth pleaded guilty in March 2011 to criminal sexual abuse, admitting he sexually molested a child in Rantoul between December 2008 and June 2009. He was sentenced to 30 months of probation and was required to register as a sex offender.
Shaw said in early January the girls' mother brought the case to the attention of authorities after the girls made statements to adults that led the adults to believe they may have been molested previously.
The mother also contacted Hollingsworth, who admitted to her that he engaged in sex acts with the girls at times when he was looking at pornography on a computer. The acts allegedly occurred at a home in Urbana and another home in Rantoul between April and May 2009.
The charges are Class X felonies, carrying a mandatory prison term of six to 30 years upon conviction.
Judge Richard Klaus set Hollingsworth's bond at $1 million and told him to be back in court March 20.
