With two more recruits commiting this week, University of Illinois football coach Ron Turner has 16 set to join his program.
Lineman Matt Carlton and tight end Josh Whitman announced they will sign with the Illini on Wednesday.
Carlton is a 6-foot-5, 340-pounder from the College of DuPage. He played high school football in Brighton, Mich.
Whitman, a 6-4, 232-pounder, caught 32 passes for 456 yards and six touchdowns as a senior at West Lafayette (Ind.) Harrison. He picked the Illini over Indiana and Maryland.
The Illini lost a potential recruit on Thursday when Correll Buckhalter picked Nebraska. The running back from Collins, Miss., was scheduled to visit Champaign this weekend.
Illinois is in the middle of the Big Ten in number of commitments. Wisconsin leads the league with 24, followed by Ohio State's 22.
