URBANA — An Urbana man was not physically harmed Sunday night after a man tried to rob him at gunpoint.
Urbana police Sgt. Cory Koker said the man was walking in the 1300 block of North Lincoln Avenue about 8:40 p.m. when he was approached near Sunset Drive by a man who asked if he could use his cell phone.
The victim told the man he didn't have a cell phone and continued walking.
Two other men then joined the man who asked to use the cell phone. The man who initially asked about the phone then displayed a handgun to the victim.
The victim ran toward his apartment and was not hurt. He told police he last saw the would-be robbers running the opposite direction. They did not get anything from the victim, Koker said.
