About the district
The new 53rd Senate District includes all of Iroquois and Ford counties, most of Livingston County and parts of Vermilion, McLean and Woodford and counties. It includes Paxton, Gibson City, Hoopeston, Bismarck, Armstrong, Potomac, Watseka, Gilman, Chatsworth, Clifton and Milford.
As of Dec. 31, 2011, Barickman had $94,118 on hand. Between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, he reported more than $15,000 in individual contributions and about $2,000 in political action committee contributions. Since Jan. 1, he has reported $4,000 in individual contributions and $10,500 in PAC contributions. His biggest contributions are $5,500 from the Illinois State Medical Society, $3,250 from the Associated Firefighters of Illinois and $2,500 from Local No. 150 of the International Union of Operating Engineers in Countryside. One unusual contribution was $1,000 from Gary Dahl, a former Republican state senator from Peru.
