CHAMPAIGN — A 20-year-old Champaign man remained in the county jail Saturday after being arrested Friday for drugs and weapons offenses.
Champaign police Sgt. Dennis Baltzell said members of the department's community action team served a search warrant at 1008 1/2 N. Hickory St. just after 3 p.m. Friday.
After finding about 13 grams of cannabis, 8.7 grams of suspected crack cocaine and a loaded Smith and Wesson 9 mm pistol, they arrested Norbert Bailey Jr.
Bailey was arrested for armed violence, unlawful possession of ammunition, and manufacture or delivery of cannabis and a controlled substance.
He is expected to be formally charged on Monday. His bond was set at $20,000 at a Saturday court appearance.
Baltzell said police had been investigating Bailey for a while.
