CHAMPAIGN — Champaign City Council members have only two items on their study session agenda tonight.
The council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, in the City Building, 102 N. Neil St., C.
The first issue is a request from the Champaign Park District to renew the honorary designation of a one-block section of Park Street in front of the Virginia Theatre as "Honorary Roger Ebert Boulevard." The original designation was made in 2002 to honor the Urbana native and University of Illinois graduate who hosts a film festival at the Virginia every spring.
Ebert's honorary street designation is one of 31 in Champaign.
The second agenda item is a discussion of whether to amend the city's current policy of almost always selling debt through competitive bond sales. One option is to amend the city's debt management policies in order to increase opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses to participate.
