The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for East Central Illinois, in effect from noon to 7 p.m. Monday. The warning affects the following counties: Champaign, Vermilion, Ford, Iroquois, Douglas, Edgar, Coles, Shelby, Moultrie, Piatt, Macon, DeWitt, and McLean.
In addition, the city of Danville in Vermilion County has issued a "no burn" order from noon to sunset Monday. Outdoor burning is prohibited during these hours. Anyone doing so is subject to receiving a citation.
The National Weather Service says strong northwest winds, a low relative humidity, and high temperatures on Monday will combine to elevate the risk for fires to spread rapidly.
