CHAMPAIGN — A second man believed to have burgled a west Champaign apartment last week has been arrested by Champaign police.
Department spokeswoman Rene Dunn said Dontrell Lee Netter, 19, who listed an address in the 2300 block of Southmoor Drive, Champaign, was arrested Monday not far from his home in connection with an April 9 burglary to an apartment at Countrybrook Apartments in the 2500 block of West Springfield Avenue.
About 9:30 a.m. that day, a witness heard a loud noise coming from an apartment, then saw two men running out holding a television and other items. When the intruders saw the man watching them, they dropped the items and ran.
Duston Smith-Fondville, 19, of the 3100 block of West Daniel Street, Champaign, was arrested that day and charged with residential burglary. He is free on bond and due back in court June 12.
Dunn said police had been looking for Netter.
The victim reported leaving her apartment before 8 a.m. on April 9 and returning to find her door forced open, the apartment ransacked and two televisions and other electronic items missing. The items were later recovered by police.
