BLOOMINGTON — Josh Manolakes did a little bit of everything for Centennial in the opener of Saturday's baseball doubleheader at Bloomington.
The right-hander fired a four-hitter with four strikeouts in leading Centennial to a 7-2 win.
He delivered at the plate, too, going 2 for 4. Cully Wilson went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBI for the Chargers, who scored six times in the sixth inning.
The Raiders bounced back to take Game 2, 1-0.
Zak Owens pitched 51/3 innings, allowing three hits, but suffered the loss. Zach Parks had two of the four hits for Centennial (14-5, 2-2 Big 12) in the nightcap.
Normal West 10-11, Urbana 0-3. The Tigers were swept at home. Chris Lenear doubled and drove in two runs in the second game for Urbana (5-13, 1-2), which also got two hits from Brian Summers.
Danville 12-1, MacArthur 2-6. Reece Imler had two hits and drove in four runs to power the host Vikings to a win in Game 1. Austin West picked up his first win of the season, going the distance while scattering six hits. Chase Thurston also had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for Danville.
MacArthur bounced back to take Game 2 as Thurston notched the only two hits for the Vikings (11-6, 2-1).
Normal Community 8-1, Champaign Central 7-4. Jake Henss hit a three-run homer and Joel Spaulding hit a two-run homer for the host Maroons in the Game 1 loss that was decided in eight innings. Kurtis Brown was 3 for 5 with two doubles and a RBI.
Freshman Zach Dorner pitched a complete game and picked up his first varsity win in the nightcap. Caleb Plattner added two hits for Central (9-13, 1-2).
