St. Thomas More 12-7, Clifton Central 2-6. MICHAEL PLECKI picked up both wins. STORM JOOP, who picked up the save in Game 2, doubled twice and drove in five runs on the day. MIKE RUBENACKER had three hits and two runs in the opener and SEAN SULLIVAN added two hits.
Salt Fork 22, Fisher 2. MAX STUTSMAN went 5 for 5 with three runs and an RBI. COLE SANFORD, who homered, and DAVID SACRE (three hits, three runs) each drove in four runs. ROSS LEARNARD added four hits and four runs. Fisher's PARKER PERRERO had two hits and drove in a run.
CPCI 8, Kankakee Grace Baptist 1. COLE HASSELBRING's two hits, including a three-run home run, led the way. BEAU ANDERSON went the distance, striking out nine to pick up the win for CPCI, which got two RBI from NICK CLUVER.
Normal West 9-6, Centennial 1-2. LUCAS STEFAN had three hits and CULLY WILSON stole four bases for the Chargers in Game 2. JONATHAN SHERRICK had an RBI in the opener.
Bloomington 3-9, Danville 0-5. The Vikings, who were limited to one hit in the opener, got three hits from TANNER McQUOWN and two from CHUCKIE ROBINSON in the second game. McQuown and Robinson each drove in two runs.
Schlarman 8, Watseka 7. JAKE LYZNICKI (two runs) and WESTIN FREEHILL (three RBI) each had two hits for the Warriors in the loss. ROBIN HASSELBRING homered for Watseka.
Watseka 3, Altamont 1. KEANON LaVOIE pitched a complete-game two-hitter with six strikeouts. Freehill tripled and drove in a run.
Champaign Central 10, Eisenhower 1. ALEC ALTMYER had two hits, two RBI and stole a school-record four bases for the visiting Maroons. KURTIS BROWN had three hits and two RBI for Central, which got seven strikeouts in six innings from winning pitcher TANNER GOSLIN. Central was leading 9-0 in the second inning of Game 2 before it was called off because of weather.
Clifton Central 8-10, St. Thomas More 3-3. ALYSSA VODACEK had three hits and scored three runs on the day for the Sabers.
Normal West 11-21, Centennial 0-2. COURTNEY STAMM had two hits in the opening for the host Chargers. BEKAH BARNERT had a single and RBI in the second game.
Clinton 3, Springfield Calvary 2. MORGAN HICKMAN's three-run home run in the second was the difference for the Maroons. Winning pitcher BAILEY WALKER (five strikeouts) and HALEY GINGER each had two hits.
At Altamont. LEA HALL had a triple in the opener for Schlarman, an 11-2 loss t the hosts. SYDNE BRYANT had three hits for the Hilltoppers in an 11-6 loss to Flora.
At Urbana. Centennial was fourth out of 15 teams at the Centennial Doubles Invitational at the Atkins Tennis Center, thanks to a first-place showing by PETER KIM and DANIEL O'BRIEN at No. 3. The No. 1 tandem of SUNNY SINGH and ANDREW SKAGGS took third place. At No. 2, AKSHAY KRISNAMANI and JEFF LAZUKA got fifth. Urbana University was sixth and got a championship from the No. 1 team of ALEX MESTRE and IDO ROTH.
At Edwardsville. Champaign Central split four matches during the weekend, beating Gibault 8-0 and Quincy 6-3. The two losses, both by 3-2 scores, came against the host Tigers and Belleville East. Central's AUSTIN ATEN won all four of his No. 1 singles matches, dropping just nine games in eight sets.
