URBANA — Urbana police continue to investigate an apparent hit-and-run collision in the campus area Tuesday morning that left three college-age women injured.
Urbana police Lt. Bob Fitzgerald preliminary information indicated that none of the women had life-threatening injuries. They were hurt after being hit by a car at 10:32 a.m. as they walked near the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Ohio Street.
Police got a description of the car and a license plate. Fitzgerald said a University of Illinois police officer stopped the car about 10 minutes later at Windsor Road and Neil street and brought the driver brought back to the scene.
Fitzgerald said it appeared that two of the women had arm or wrist injuries and the third had a leg injury.
Their names and that of the driver were not immediately available.
