CHAMPAIGN — A man and woman who allegedly attacked a fellow passenger at the Illinois Terminal in downtown Champaign Friday afternoon were arrested for aggravated battery.
Champaign police Sgt. Tom Frost said about 12:30 p.m. the couple were arguing loudly with each other when another man who was waiting for a bus suggested to them that they calm down or move their dispute elsewhere.
The couple then turned on the 32-year-old man and began hitting and kicking him, Frost said. The man went to Provena Covenant Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, which included cuts and bruises to his face.
Police arrested Shantanika Cotton, 19, who listed an address in the 600 block of South Prairie Street, and Robert Perry Jr. 22, who listed an address in the 800 block of North Fourth Street, Champaign.
The two appeared in bond court Saturday and were scheduled to return to court Monday for formal charging.
