UPDATED 3:50 p.m. Monday.
CHAMPAIGN — Police have arrested one man and are looking for two others they say were involved in a fight that sent one man to the hospital early Sunday in Campustown.
According to Champaign police spokeswoman Rene Dunn, police were called to the 500 block of East Green Street about 2:50 a.m. and found an ambulance crew treating a 21-year-old man.
Dunn said the man and a friend left a bar at 2 a.m. and were headed on Green Street toward Fourth Street. In the 500 block of East Green Street, they met a man they knew arguing with a woman.
The victim, who was not directly involved in the conversation, tried to calm the man down and told him to leave. That man, identified by police as Zachary Lingard, 20, of Urbana, hit the victim, knocking him to the ground. Two other men then joined in and began hitting the man, then left the area, Dunn said.
Lingard was arrested for aggravated battery and taken to the Champaign County Jail. Police are still looking for the other two men.
Dunn said the victim was in good condition on Monday afternoon.
Names of those being sought? Descriptions? Bet you would find them a lot faster if you let the public know who was being looked for.
