We are getting so, so close to finishing Erin and Tom's computer room [3].
[4]Last weekend we put in more floor, including in their bathroom, put some trim back up and installed a new light fixture in their bathroom. We also installed half their toilet (sorry guys) after caulking around the exposed ends of the laminate in that area to prevent any moisture seeping into the floor and causing buckling.
It is looking great, especially the laminate floors with the freshly-painted trim.
[5]Rob and I bought a pneumatic finish nailer and air compressor, which reduced the trim to a 10-minute job. (Does anyone else use certain home-improvement projects as an excuse to buy that tool you've wanted forever? Now to stock up on things like a pneumatic sander and caulk gun....)
The trim installation went incredibly smoothly because we salvaged the old trim in both the main room and the bathroom. We didn't have to make any new cuts.
Erin will have to touch up some areas on the trim with caulk and more white paint, but that won't be too difficult compared to cutting brand-new trim.
What we still have left to do: Erin will paint around the new light fixture, and we need to finish installing the toilet (we were on a time crunch last Sunday). We need to finish a few flooring details (the really tight areas), put up the rest of the trim and install their pedestal sink. Oh, and we can't forget to install their new bi-fold door. We're hoping to get it wrapped up soon.
Here is the obligatory Milou photo - we decided that he is perfectly camoflauged for a Cinnabar Oak enviroment.
Here are some more pictures of our progress. You can see the before pictures here [7].
