With a new sport complex on its east side, St. Joseph continues a trend of rapid growth. A community that had 2,912 residents during the 2000 Census now boasts more than 4,000 residents.
The first phase of a new 40-acre athletic complex called the St. Joseph Community Park was completed this spring. The complex features softball and baseball fields, outdoor basketball courts, a soccer field, a football field, a roller hockey court, plaground equipment and a pedestrian and bike path.
St. Joseph got a new Monical´s Pizza two years ago, and Busey Bank and St. Joseph First Bank completed remodeling projects and the Gifford State Bank built a new facility.
This summer a winery, Wyldewood Cellars, opened in the community.
