Rules on letters to the editor:
The News-Gazette invites you to share your opinions with other readers. All letters are subject to editing.
Required: Name, address and phone number, to help us verify the authenticity of letters.
Timeliness: Preference is given to letters offering fresh perspectives on timely topics.
Length limit: 250 words. Also, writers are limited to one published letter per month.
We do not publish: Anonymous letters, poetry, form letters generated by advocacy groups, letters published elsewhere, and so-called 'open' letters written to a third party, such as the president or governor.
Thank-you letters: Only if the author is unable to contact the benefactors in other ways.

You must include your name, address and telephone number.
You can also submit a letter to the editor by e-mailing letters@news-gazette.com, but all of the information required below should be included in your e-mail, including name, address and phone number.
The News-Gazette will not publish anonymous letters.
