"The Bennett" Overly Construction, winner of the 2001 Showcase of Homes "People's Choice Award," is very proud to present this year's entry, "The Bennett." Upon viewing this home's exterior you can't help but realize the quality and craftsmanship that went into the construction of this fine custom designed home. "Simple Elegance" is the only way to describe the design of this predominantly brick home. Even the tall columns and arched entryway that nestle the circle top window above the entry door are brick. But all of this is only a prelude to the magnificent interior. Once you enter, you are greeted by a cathedral ceiling that runs the full length of the entry. Then the same ceiling angles through the Great Room towards the wall of glass that surrounds the fireplace. A peninsula of custom cabinetry extends from the kitchen, with ample seating for any meal of the day. From the moment you enter the home, you have a spectacular view of the oversized sunroom, which is also visible from almost every room on the first level. Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining room, with its octagonal trayed ceiling and indirect lighting. If you have trouble deciding which one to look at first, just stand in the middle. Due to the open floor plan of this 2383 square foot first level design, you can view most every room from anywhere on the first level. The bedrooms are privately tucked away from the entertaining areas of the first level. A wonderful master suite consisting of the walk-in closet, custom shower and whirlpool, a large laundry room, a "Jack and Jill" bath that connects the two first level bedrooms, and plenty of closets round off the first level. The bedrooms, along with every other room in the house, are complemented by the 9' ceiling heights. An angled entry to the open railed stair system leads you down to the 1795 square feet of finished basement. An additional 583 square feet are left unfinished for storage or future finishing. Natural lighting will enhance the comfortable feeling you have when entering this lower level living space. We went to great lengths to ensure that this lower level never feels like a basement. Starting with the 12' long daylight window in the family room and large egress windows in the two lower level bedrooms. With natural lighting and 9' ceilings throughout, we believe we have created a living area you will find comfortable, no matter how you choose to use it. We also had comfort in mind when designing the room everyone will be talking about, the theater room. Its nearly 17' x 20' size gives the flexibility for you to design a home entertainment system in any number of ways. Finishing off the finished lower level area there is a large full bath, sitting area, double glass doors on a 16' x 14' exercise room, and again, plenty of closets. George Overly has over 20 years in the building industry with the last 11 years owning and operating Overly Construction, Inc., a mid-sized construction company concentrating mainly on custom home design and construction. |
