The Illinois Quality Assurance Builder Standards
provide, for the first time ever, new homebuyers and
remodeling customers a way to measure their
builder and the project against an industry approved
set of standards. These Standards have been developed
as a service to new home consumers and remodeling
customers. QUALITY ASSURANCE BUILDER STANDARDS PROGRAM "The consumer's best measuring tool for new construction and Remodeling!" WHAT IT MEANS TO YOU THE CONSUMER These Standards create a series of performance standards that builders and cutomers can use to com-municate and understand each other's expectations regarding building/remodeling projects. And it does it in easy-to-understand layman's terms. The Standards address the most prevalent issues that arise between the builder and the customer before the project, during the project, and most importantly, after the project is completed. All too often it is the unrealized or undiscovered expectations that create the majority of the problems encountered in the building/remodeling process. The Standards will help eliminate these problems before the project even begins. These standards are contained in a book, the "Builder Standards Manual" and were written specifically for Illinois consumers by representatives of the residential building/remodeling industry. Ask your Builder or Remodeler if he or she is a member of HBA/ECI. Only a member of the Association will be able to provide you with the HBA/ ECI Quality Assurance Builder Standards Manual.
