The Danville Area Community College spring sports programs both feature several athletes that are off to good starts to their seasons.

In baseball, sophomore Connor Taylor, from Salt Fork, is 3-0 in four starts with 37 strikeouts in 23 2 / 3 innings, sophomore Taylor Turner, from Oakwood, has a 0.77 ERA and three saves in five appearances, sophomore Dylan Marble, from Danville, is 3-1 with two complete games, 17 strikeouts, and a 0.98 ERA in 181 / 3 innings, and sophomore Alec Thomas, from Centennial, is 2-0 with 15 strikeouts in 11 innings. In the field, freshman Hunter Phelps, from Oakwood, is hitting .364 with a .481 on-base percentage, freshman DeVante Hicks, from Danville, is hitting .296 with 10 runs scored in 10 games, and freshman Noah Nelson, also from Danville, has a .442 slugging percentage with a home run and five doubles. The 11-3 Jaguars take to the road to face Lindenwood-Belleville at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

In softball, freshman Brianna Tatar, from Rantoul, leads DACC with three home runs, five doubles, 20 RBI, a .525 batting average and a 1.473 OPS, sophomore Lindsey Loewenstein, from Danville, is hitting .421 with a 1.042 OPS, sophomore Tiffany Christman, from Unity, is hitting .366 and a .512 slugging percentage, freshman Hayley Hardin, from Chrisman, is 8 for 14 in five appearances, freshman Holley Hambleton, fro Armstrong-Potomac, is 4 for 9 in eight games, and sophomore Pheonix LaCombe, from Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, is 3-0 with a 2.17 ERA in 191 / 3 innings. Weather permitting, DACC is scheduled to host doubleheaders with John Wood and Lewis & Clark this weekend.

Sophomore Brea Walker, from Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, was named the Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. The Illinois Wesleyan right-hander allowed just one hit in a complete game 3-0 shutout of DePauw on March 15, taking a perfect game into the seventh inning. On the season Walker is 3-1 with a 1.83 ERA for the 14th ranked Titans, who will take part in the Schutt Invitational hosted by Washington University in St. Louis this weekend.

Sophomore Nick Bates, from Tuscola, has started 13 games in the outfield for Kaskaskia College. Returning to the team after a head injury prematurely ended an excellent freshman season, Bates is hitting .359 with an on-base percentage of .460 and a .564 slugging percentage. Teammate Zach Hrvol, a sophomore pitcher from Sullivan, has made four starts, striking out 21 in 171 / 3 innings. The 10-6 Blue Devils play at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Louis Community College.

Both Devin Crews, a senior from Prairie Central, and Connor Gross, a junior from Cerro Gordo/Bement have contributed to Millikin's 10-4 start. Going into Friday, Crews led the CCIW with 27 hits, 48 total bases, and was tied for the home run lead with five. Crews also leads Big Blue starters with a .397 batting average. Gross has made five starts, going 3-1 and leading the staff with 30 strikeouts in 29 innings. Millikin returns to action Wednesday when it hosts a doubleheader against Illinois Wesleyan starting a 1 p.m.
