CHAMPAIGN — The biggest recruiting weekend — ever — for Illinois basketball has passed. So what's next for the Illini after hosting E.J. Liddell, Terrence Shannon Jr. and Oscar Tshiebwe?

Liddell's stop to Champaign was the last of his official visits after cancelling trips to Kansas State and Wisconsin. The reigning News-Gazette All-State Player of the Year and Illinois Mr. Basketball is down to the Illini, Ohio State and Missouri (with the Tigers appearing to rank third on that list). A decision may be in the offing for the state of Illinois' best player.

Shannon and Tshiebwe, who has visits left to West Virginia and Kentucky, might not be as close to a decision, but Illinois is firmly in the mix for both. Shannon was reportedly still wearing Illini gear Sunday back in Chicago.

Brad Underwood and the Illini are now in wait-and-see mode with those three top 50 recruits. Illinois is still without a 2019 commitment as more of its one-time recruiting targets come off the board, including recent commits for Rocket Watts to Michigan State, James Bouknight to UConn and Ish Massoud to Wake Forest.
