Mark your calendars: Week of Feb. 17, 2019

Now that the 2018-19 season is underway, our college basketball writer provides three games to watch in the coming week — from the elite matchups to the under-the-radar gems — that he's penciled in on his TV schedule:

No. 8 North Carolina at No. 2 Duke

Wednesday, 8 p.m. (ESPN)

When do you think the line will start forming in Krzyzewskiville for this one? There's no hotter ticket in the country that night than the one that will get you into Cameron Indoor Stadium. Duke-North Carolina is always heated (see Tyler Hansbrough's bloodied face), but the stakes should be even higher if both are still in the top 10 that week. Even if they're not, expect fireworks between these two longtime rivals.

Detroit Mercy at Oakland

Saturday, 2 p.m. (ESPN3)

This game might not even have regional appeal considering everyone in Michigan will be looking forward to Sunday's matchup between Michigan and Michigan State in Ann Arbor. But Detroit-Oakland isn't a bad lead in — particularly when it means getting a chance to watch Titans' freshman guard Antoine Davis. The coach's son is the second-leading scorer in the country, averaging 27.1 points per game so far this season.

Wofford at Furman

Saturday, 3 p.m. (ESPN3)

Interesting matchup between the Southern Conference team (Furman) that was ranked in the Top 25 early this season thanks to a big road win at Villanova and the Southern Conference team (Wofford) receiving increasing points toward a spot of its own. The individual matchup to watch will be Wofford's Fletcher Magee and his three 30-point games this season and Furman's Jordan Lyons, who scored 54 points earlier this year.
