Quick hits: Hawkeyes’ barrage of three-pointers does in Illini during season-ending loss

What happened

Illinois hung with Iowa for a half. Then Thursday night's second round game took on a distinctly "blowout in late January" feel. The Hawkeyes kept knocking down shots — a lot of them — while the Illini stumbled down the stretch.

What it means

Iowa might have limped into the Big Ten tournament, but the Hawkeyes still showed Illinois has work to do to compete consistently in the top half of the conference. The Illini displayed flashes, but it's a work in progress.

What's next

The book closes on the 2018-19 Illini after some good (the emergence of Ayo Dosunmu and Giorgi Bezhanishvili as freshmen) and more than their share of bad (like the first season with at least 20 losses in program history).
