These movers-and-shakers in the college basketball world had themselves a bad week. Our college basketball writer explains why:

All that is UCLA

Sure, the Bruins hired a successful coach in luring Mick Cronin away from Cincinnati. But UCLA's search was a mess as big name coach after big name coach said thanks, but no thanks to AD Dan Guerrero. So much for the Bruins' brand.

The Mullin era

Chris Mullin returned to St. John's in 2016, sparking renewed faith the former star could get his alma mater to the same level when he played there. Instead, St. John's went 59-73 in his four seasons before Mullin resigned Tuesday.

Keeping rosters intact

No team will match UMKC and former coach Kareem Richardson, a Rantoul graduate, losing 11 players to transfer, but the Kangaroos aren't alone. As the transfer list bears down on 600 names, 26 teams have lost at least five players each.
