These movers-and-shakers in the college basketball world had themselves a bad week. Our college basketball writer explains why:

Good and bad

Marquette could have been a top-10 team at the start of the 2019-20 season. Markus Howard's decision to return for one more year was a big part of that, but losing both Sam and Joey Hauser is a serious blow to the Golden Eagles' chances.

Trouble in Queens

Things haven't gotten any better in Queens since Chris Mullin resigned as St. John's coach. Yes, the Red Storm ultimately hired Mike Anderson, but only after Bobby Hurley, Porter Moser, Ryan Odom and Tim Cluess turned down the job.

Making the grade

Sports Illustrated graded out every power conference team from the 2018-19 season (the Illini got a C+). At the bottom of the scale were matching Fs for California and Vanderbilt, who both made coaching changes this offseason.
