Riley breaks school record

NAMPA, Idaho — Illinois senior Andrew Riley broke his school record in the 60 meters Friday, clocking 6.53 seconds at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Riley also recorded the fastest prelim time in the 60 hurdles (7.53).

In baseball:

Johnson goes distance in victory. Pitcher Kevin Johnson tossed a complete-game four-hitter, leading Illinois to a 2-1 baseball victory against No. 18 Oregon on Friday night at the Nike College Showcase in Eugene, Ore.

In tennis:

Nevolo sparks victory. Dennis Nevolo won his No. 1 singles and doubles matches, leading Illinois to a 5-2 men's tennis victory against host Northwestern on Friday night.

In women's golf:

Lucas leads way. Illinois' women's golf team, paced by senior Nora Lucas, was tied for fifth place Friday at the Eagle Landing Invitational in Orange Park, Fla.

Lucas opened with a 2-over-par 74 and was tied for 11th.
