D'backs draft Jordan Parr

D'backs draft Jordan Parr

Illini left fielder Jordan Parr was selected Saturday in the 15th round of the MLB amateur draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

If the redshirt junior signs, he'll be joining his older brother in the same organization. Shortstop Josh Parr was drafted by the D'backs in 2011 in the 12th round.

Jordan Parr was drafted for the second year in a row. In 2012, he was taken by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 26th round but elected to return to school.

Another player with Illini ties was chosen in the 16th round. The Cleveland Indians  picked Texas junior outfielder Mark Payton, son of former Illini Dave Payton.

The three-day draft concludes today and lasts 40 rounds.
