Midwest League honors Lindauer

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Former Illinois shortstop Thomas Lindauer was named Midwest League Player of the Week on Monday, winning the award following his first week with the Quad Cities River Bandits.

After being transferred from extended spring training on April 21, the Houston Astros’ minor leaguer hit .346 and drove in eight runs in six games. In one contest, Lindauer homered twice and had five RBI.

The Moline native finished the week with a .654 slugging percentage.

Lindauer was chosen by the Astros in the 23rd round of the 2013 amateur draft after his junior season. He was a two-time All-Big Ten honoree at Illinois, including a first-team selection last year.
