Baseball team rates third seed for Big Ten tourney


LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska’s Pat Kelly launched a three-run walkoff home run in the 10th inning, lifting the Cornhuskers to a 7-4 win against Illinois on Saturday at Hawks Field.

With the win, Nebraska (37-18, 18-6 Big Ten) clinched the No. 2 seed in this week’s Big Ten tournament, dropping the Illini (31-19, 17-7) to the No. 3 seed.

Adam Walton went 3 for 4 and Will Krug went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI on Saturday for Illinois, which will play sixth-seeded Michigan State on Wednesday at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., to open the Big Ten tournament.
