Illini baseball releases 2018 schedule

CHAMPAIGN — For the second consecutive year, the first pitch of the Illinois baseball team's season will take place in Beaumont, Texas. The Illini play Lamar on Feb. 16 followed by Texas Southern (Feb. 17) and Missouri State (Feb. 18) as the 2018 schedule was released on Tuesday.

Illinois also has out-of-state nonconference trips to Conway, S.C., Minneapolis, Minn., and Greenville, S.C. During their first visit to the Palmetto State, the Illini have a pair of games against Coastal Carolina (Feb. 23 and 24) and another game against West Virginia (Feb. 24).

The Illini will play UCLA on March 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium — the home of the Minnesota Vikings and the site for next year's Super Bowl. During that weekend, Illinois will wrap up with two more Pacific-12 foes — Arizona (March 3) and Washington (March 4).

During their second weekend in South Carolina, the Illini have Presbyterian (March 9), Furman (March 10) and Michigan State (March 11). When Illinois meets the Spartans in Greenville, S.C., it will be considered as a nonconference game.
