Illinois lands two-way tackle

Sam Price, a member of Illinois' 1963 Big Ten championship football team, confirmed last week that his son, 275-pound tackle Oliver King, will sign with new Illini coach Ron Turner on Feb. 5.

"Oliver will attend the bridge program next summer," said Price, a sales representative for a car dealership in Grand Blanc, Mich. "Oliver loves it down there. He could be an outstanding player. He just keeps growing and growing."

King, an all-state lineman for Saginaw High, is the 14th senior to commit to the Illini.

Price was a starting halfback on Illini football teams featuring All-Americans Dick Butkus and Jim Grabowski in the mid-60s. Price played professionally for the Miami Dolphins from 1966-68.
