Illinois quarterback Jon Beutjer was one of 42 Division I quarterbacks named to the Davey O''Brien Award watch list Tuesday.
The O''Brien Award honors the nation''s top college quarterback each season.
Beutjer is entering his third season at Illinois. He played in seven games last year for the Illini before sustaining a season-ending back injury. He''s thrown for more than 4,000 yards during his college career.
Others on the O''Brien Award list include Purdue''s Kyle Orton, Penn State''s Zack Mills, Missouri''s Brad Smith, Indiana''s Matt LoVecchio, Northern Illinois'' Josh Haldi, Florida State''s Chris Rix and Oklahoma''s Jason White.
The semifinalists for the award will be announced in November, with the winner announced in early December.
