Illinois-Cincinnati contract signed

Illinois-Cincinnati contract signed

The game contract between Illinois and Cincinnati has been signed. The Illini are scheduled to play at Cincinnati on Nov. 28. The Bearcats will return the game on Sept. 7, 2013.

Illinois will receive $350,000 for making this year's trip. When Cincinnati returns to Illinois in 2013, it will get the same amount.

The contract calls for the visiting team to receive 400 free tickets. And each visiting school will receive 3,000 tickets to sell to its fans. If any of the tickets are returned by the visiting team, the value of those ticketes will be deducted from the $350,000 guarantee.

Television rights for the 2009 game will belong to the Big East. When Cincinnati visits C-U in 2013, the rights will be held by the Big Ten.

Officials will be assigned by the conference of the home team.

Cincinnati is coming off its first trip to a BCS game. The Big East champions lost to Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl.

Wow! Now that is some hard bargaining from Guenther. Are you kidding me?

Two nonconference home games now scheduled for 2013: Cincinnati on September 7 and Washington on September 14.

Hey, whiners. Washington is in the tank right now (though once a more frequent Illini opponent), and if we can't beat Cincinatti, how do you think we'd fare in a BCS bowl?

Wasn't me that was whining. Just noting who Illinois plays in 2013 along with Cincinnati. Saying that, by 2013, Washington should be quite a bit better than they are now -- a good game and attractive home matchup for the Illini.

The AD must be afraid to schedule a 7th home game fearing that the typical season ticket holder will not pony up for the increased cost of 7 games vs. 6.
